These programs enable youth to develop their creativity, self-expression, and multicultural awareness and appreciation. Initiatives include providing exposure to and developing skills in crafts and visual, performing, and literary arts.

Digital Arts Suite and Festivals

Digital Arts FestivalsClub Tech’s Digital Arts Suite teaches members ages 6 to 18 how to create computer-generated art.

In each of the five tutorials (Web Tech, Design Tech, Photo Tech, Music Tech, and Movie Tech), members advance through three levels of animated lessons online at and participate in instructor-led group activities. Club members ages 10 to 18 are invited to submit their artwork to the annual Club Tech Digital Arts Festivals, which celebrate Club members’ creativity in Web design, graphic design, photo illustration, music composition and film production/screenplay writing. The Club Tech Digital Arts Suite and Festivals are components of a partnership between Boys & Girls Clubs of America and founding partner Microsoft to equip America’s youth with essential digital literacy skills. ImageMakers: National Photography Program

Image MakersThis comprehensive photography program encourages youth to appreciate and practice photography, expressing themselves in creative and innovative ways.

The national initiative delivers a state-of-the-art photography curriculum, provides photographic resources and opportunities for Club members to compete on a national level. ImageMakers provides local, regional and national recognition through an annual photography contest. Winning photos will be displayed nationwide at museums as well as at BGCA’s annual National Conference. View the ImageMakers National Photography Exhibit Virtual Gallery.

National Fine Arts Exhibit

National Fine Arts ExhibitThis competition, which encourages creativity through a variety of media, is made up of local, regional and national exhibits.

Young people are encouraged to create artwork in any of the following categories: monochromatic drawing, multicolored drawing, pastels, water color, oil or acrylic, print making, mixed media, collage, and sculpture. Artwork selected through a national competition is displayed at BGCA’s annual National Conference.

Music Makers

Music MakersThis year-round program encourages Club members ages 6 to 18 to have fun exploring music making by learning to play drums and guitar.

Developed in collaboration with NAMM (International Music Products Association), Clubs provide step-by-step activities for drums and guitar in beginner, intermediate and advanced skill levels.

DramaMatters: Setting The Stage For Success

Drama MattersA drama education program for Clubs that encourages members ages 6 to 18 to engage in hands-on activities. Drama education builds self-confidence, sparks creativity, and boosts academic achievement.

A weekly program consisting of 60 minute sessions segmented for beginner, intermediate, and advanced members. Each session can be adapted to fit the age of participants as well. Sessions consist of a short warm-up, a main activity of games, script work, or performance, and a 10-minute cool-down. The Lessons in Stagecraft Program Guide includes many different ways for members to express themselves creatively, from costumes to set design to directing.
