Our Mission

To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

Our Boys & Girls Clubs Code

I believe in God and the right to worship according to my own faith and religion.
I believe in America and the American way of life…in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
I believe in fair play, honesty and sportsmanship.
I believe in my Boys & Girls Club, which stands for these things.

Great Futures Start Here

Since 1936, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Mississippi has been the leading youth development organization in the region. Annually, we serve about 2,200 youth who spend nearly 750,000 hours at our 4 Metro-area clubs and our camp near Hazlehurst. View locations

We inspire and enable young people to become successful, responsible citizens. Thousands of our alumni confirm the fact that we change the lives of at-risk youth. Here’s what we know from our alumni:

  • 57% of our alumni say the Club saved their life
  • 85% say their Club helped them know the difference between right and wrong
  • 92% of our alumni say their Club taught them the importance of helping others
  • 91% of our alumni are satisfied with their adult life.

Many of our kids come from disadvantaged circumstances. If not for the Boys & Girls Club, many would be left unsupervised, often in neighborhoods where drug use and violence are constant threats. Statistics show most youth crime occurs between the hours between of 3-7 pm, when kids are out of school and unsupervised. Those are the hours that our four clubs are open during the school year and we are open from 7am-6pm during the summer. The youth who attend our clubs attest to the benefit of the Clubs. The quotes below are Straight from the Source:

  • “If not for my club, I would be in jail or doing drugs.”
  • “It gives me something to do and keeps me out of trouble.”
  • “I learned the importance of not having pre-marital sex. I learned to become a better teenager. If not for the Club, I would be on the street.”
  • “It helps me by keeping me educated. I’m learning new things about friendships, abstinence, and finances.”
  • “I’m learning to respect myself, my teachers, and other students at all times.”
  • “I love my club because it is fun. I get to be with my friends and we help each other with homework, then we get to do fun activities.”

There are many excellent organizations that provide services to youth. However, the core characteristics upon which Boys & Girls Clubs are based set us apart from other youth-serving organizations. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Mississippi is the only organization that is 100% youth-focused and facility-based, providing youth a “Club” of their own, and staffed with full time youth development professionals.

GFSH in CRAYONThe Clubs are open to all kids, do not require proof of good character, are affordable to any child, and provide varied and diversified programs that recognize and respond to the collective and individual needs of youth.

Today, thousands of boys and girls, at-risk and in need, are taking advantage of the programs, activities, and services provided by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Mississippi. They benefit from trained, caring, professional staff and volunteers who help young people take control of their lives, envision productive futures and reach their goals.

The programs are strategically created for our youth to learn in a positive atmosphere that is both educational and fun. They learn about teenage pregnancy and how one “mistake” can change the course of their life. We have a 92% high school graduation rate which proves that youth who attend one of our clubs will not be a “high-school drop-out” statistic.

We help prevent juvenile crime by offering our youth a safe place to be during the critical hours when the crime rate is at its highest. In the long run, youth who attend our clubs contribute to our community through economic development. While attending our clubs, the parents can go to work with the secure feeling that their child is being cared for which enables them to do their job more efficiently. The positive results for most of the youths who attend our clubs is that they graduate high school, attend college or a technical school, or they begin working which enables them to become responsible, tax paying citizens.
